Industrial Instrumentation Mechanic

In this job, you won’t find any tubas or clarinets. Instead you’ll find sensors, transmitters, pressure gauges, temperature indicators, controllers, and flow meters- all of which are intricate components used in Industrial instruments. As a technician, you’ll repair these components as well as remove or replace defective parts and install new equipment. You’ll use various testing devices (many of which are hard to pronounce), to diagnose problems and repair the instruments.

Here are just a few: mercury manometers, potentiometers and oscilloscopes. See? Hard to pronounce. You will also need to know how to read and interpret manuals, circuit diagrams and blueprints so that you can maintain the instruments and be sure that everything is working smoothly.
