Industrial Mechanics are the heavy lifters. They’re responsible for machinery and heavy mechanical equipment in a variety of settings including repair shops, plants, constructions sites, mines, logging operations, ski hills and most production and manufacturing facilities. Other duties include unloading, moving and assembling new equipment, working with hydraulic lift trucks and crane operators and overseeing the building of supports for new machines. Industrial Mechanics also need to be able follow blueprints and drawings, use precision measuring device and welder’s cutting torches as well as fit bearings and align gears.
