What it's all About.

Remember the movie Armageddon? The fate of the world rested on Bruce Willis’ drilling rig crew boring into and exploding an asteroid on collision course with Earth. It just goes to show you: you never know where a job in oil and gas might lead.

Offshore rigs, like the one in the movie, don’t drill off the BC coastline, but BC has plenty of deep drilling land-based rig activity in an ever-growing oil and gas industry.

Oil and gas careers can be very flexible. For instance, most rig workers don’t live in the northeast where BC’s gas deposits are located. Because of the crew rotation on rigs, employees travel to their rig for a two-week shift and then return home – wherever that might be – to enjoy their high wages and time off. And while you probably won’t get a call to take your expertise into space and save the world, oil and gas field experience is a great first step into the diverse opportunities offered by the many sectors in oil and gas. Your unique skills will ladder into career paths, in Canada or abroad. Check out the links and opportunities.
